Skinny Tan, a global tanning sensation and one of the world's fastest growing self-tanning brands, started from very humble beginnings.
Back in 2012 young mums Kate Cotton & Louise Ferguson were busy formulating the perfect self-tanning cream. Both avid fake tan users, Kate & Louise were often disappointed with the fake tans they bought from stores, so were determined to create a tan that:
1) Didn't go orange
2) Didn't streak
3) Didn't have that "fake tan smell"
4) Was vegan, cruelty free and free from harmful parabens and sulphates.
"We tried 27 different formulations over 6 months when creating Skinny Tan and did not rest until we found the most natural looking, streak-free tan" shared co-founder Louise Ferguson. "First and foremost the Skinny Tan colour had to be indistinguishable from a real tan and as I was useless at applying fake-tan, the Skinny Tan tanning cream had to be fool-proof and streak-free" Louise explains.
Also, both Kate & Louise had young children so were very conscious of the number of harsh chemicals used in everyday life. She wanted to ensure the products were free from "nasties" and the ingredients lists contained as many naturally derived ingredients as possible. There was absolutely no question that Skinny Tan would have to be paraben-free, sulfate-free and would also be cruelty-free and vegan friendly.
