CELEBRATING HAND ME DOWNS: After a decade working for leading retail brands, mother Alex Golden became troubled by the fast fashion disposable clothing trend and the lack of high-quality classic styles for kids that were also super comfortable. In search of inspiration, she found a 30-year-old pair of overalls that her husband wore as a child. She recognized that this type of heirloom-quality children’s clothing in classic styles are missing from today’s market. So she set out to create Paper Cape, offering the softest, highest-quality fabrics in timeless designs that meet the needs of active kids and modern parents.

NOT ALL COTTON IS CREATED EQUAL: Pima cotton, also called the ‘cashmere of cotton’, is softer and longer-lasting than other varietals. With a background in product development, Alex sources Peruvian Pima from an ethical factory in Lima that works with some of today’s top fashion brands. Pima cotton's handpicked fibers are 80% longer than conventional cotton, meaning it has fewer breaking points so is soft to the touch and doesn’t pill over time. Paper Cape garments are made to last, even with the most active of kids, and can be handed down from child to child and even generation to generation.
